In an effort to groom newbie for future roles, companies are resorting to varied strategies to inculcate leadership skills in its employees. SAP Labs, for instance have introduced an innovative concept of ‘In the Spotlight’, whereby managers are provided to become the HR head for a day of the company.
The programme visions to mentor young professionals with the responsibilities of senior roles. Akhil aggarwal, a senior development manager at SAP Labs was offered the role for a day. Narrating his experience, he said,” I sat in Bhuvaneswar Naik’s cabin and all enquires that were directed to him came to me. I attended meetings, took decision on behalf of the company. The experience was an eye opener for me.
I learnt a lot about the ways to interact with senior leaders in the company.” He was assigned the office of the HR head and allocated all the key responsibilities of the position.
