VIT high on placement convocation

It is dismal to note that IT firms in India prefer one tier and two tier college graduates in lieu of students graduating from smaller colleges. Placement sessions indicate a constant trend of recruitment in large numbers with the pay scales stagnant at Rs 3 lakh -4 lakh for five consecutive years.

An elite college down south, Vellore Institute of Technology announced that near around 3,934 offers made to its students were given by top IT firms viz, Accenture, Wipro and Cognizant. Nevertheless, the average salaries lie in the range of 3.5-4 lakh.

The VIT chancellor, G Viswanathan said,” The salary offered by three firms was in the range of Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 4 lakh, which has not changed much in recent years." Furthermore, he added that the college witnessed placement offers from 225 companies the previous year. Following the statistics, 40-590 recruiters have visited their campus and another 150 are being expected over the next few weeks.
