It is dismal to note that the present state of the country entails evils like corruption and red tapism spreading its roots in every domain of life, education, healthcare, industries etc, to name a few.
Cut to the present, the cause of concern is the sprawling corruption in education sector that has severely affected the higher education in the country. The crux of the problem is speculated to be the rising levels of political intervention in educational work structure.
The appointment of vice chancellors, for example requires the recommendation of state government for the short listing process. Unfortunately, it is a common practice of ministers to demand bribe from the panel members to appoint them as VC.
Sources reveal that the bribe money could range between a hefty 5 crore to 50 crore vis-à-vis the status of the universities. The vicious process is followed by collection of money by the VCs forthwith the appointments and promotions within the university.
